Welcome

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one of the most prevalent sleep disorders, affecting approximately 3-7% of men and 2-5% of women. Like most sleep disorders, OSA is underdiagnosed and undertreated. While National campaigns have improved the awareness of OSA, the treatment offered to OSA patients still suffers from a lack of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The primary treatment of OSA is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). However, what do we do, when CPAP is not enough? A single modality treatment may not be adequate to cure patients suffering from severe OSA. Furthermore, compliance to CPAP has not been impressive, and still more patients ask for alternative treatment options. To improve treatment of OSA patients, we need to understand the full spectrum of options to effectively tailor the treatment to the needs of the patient. We believe that shared knowledge between our disciplines can raise the overall treatment quality for OSA patients.

Therefore, we invite you to join our conference to bring your knowledge of patients’ treatment and share your knowledge with colleagues from different specialties. Likewise, our experienced team will focus on the latest surgical and non-surgical techniques for the management of OSA and be joined by external colleagues with special skills. Lecture topics will include pathophysiology and diagnosis, radiologic and other diagnostic evaluations, CPAP treatment, mandibular advancement device (MAD) treatment, orthognathic surgery with combined maxillary and mandibular advancement and genioglossus procedures.

The objective of this symposium is to allow the interdisciplinary team of doctors to feel comfortable with the many non-surgical and surgical techniques available to them for the diagnosis and management of OSA.

So we welcome all specialties involved in the treatment of OSA patients to join.
